Adventures in Statistical Data Analysis
June 22–27
Using toy airplanes for example, become a better problem solver by using mathematical reasoning and statistical data analysis to reach conclusions. Collect and analyze data during hands-on laboratory activities and a quality-control experiment to assess the performance of toy airplanes. Enhance your analytical skills via combinatorics, curve fitting, sampling, and dynamic geometry concepts.

Meet the Instructor

Douglas Meade is the Undergraduate Director and an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of South Carolina. His mathematical interests are very broad, but have a common theme of applying mathematics to new situations and in new ways. This approach extends to his teaching, where he has been one of the leaders in introducing computers into the mathematics courses at USC.

Maureen Petkewich is an instructor in the Department of Statistics at the University of South Carolina.  She has also taught mathematics at the middle school and high school levels.  She has a M.S. in Statistics from the University of South Carolina and previously served as a statistician at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of South Carolina.
