Scholarship Opportunities for Pre-University Programs

 

2014 CMS Adventure Series Program:

 

The University of South Carolina is pleased to announce that Scholarship opportunities are now available for the 2014 Carolina Master Scholars Adventure Series, summer program.

 


CMS Adventure Series Pharmacy Course: Partial Scholarship

 

Partial Scholarships in the amount $400-$600 for residential or commuter scholars will be awarded to rising 9-12 students interested in enrolling in the Carolina Master Scholars Adventures Series course in Pharmacy (Course Dates: June 8-13). This course is designed for high school students interested in pharmacy or pursuing a career in pharmacy.

 

Adventures of Pharmacy Course Description: Travel with us as we discover what it takes to become a pharmacist. Youíll see that pharmacists work in communities, in educational institutions, for drug manufacturers, for hospitals, and with nuclear medicine to build patient records and medical files. Real-life pharmacists will show you how to read prescriptions and help with the preparation of medications, counsel patients, understand poison warnings, and learn patient drug regimens. You will learn about hypertension and diabetic monitoring, compounding, and intravenous techniques. This adventure includes working in the Pharmacy Lab at USCís School of Pharmacy.

 

This scholarship is based on a first come first served basis to families who demonstrate need. Each student may only receive one (1) scholarship during the 2014 summer term.

 

Carolina Master Scholars Adventure Series program would like to extend our appreciation to the South Carolina College of Pharmacy at University of South Carolina, who is a sponsor of this scholarship.


 

CMS Adventures Series General Partial Scholarship

 

Partial Scholarships in the amount $250 for residential and $150 for commuter scholars will be awarded to students interested in enrolling in any of the courses for the Carolina Master Scholars Adventure Series program.

 

This scholarship is based on a first come first served basis to families who demonstrate need. Each student may only receive one (1) scholarship during the 2014 summer term.

 

Carolina Master Scholars Adventure Series program would like to extend our appreciation to the Carolina Collegiate Federal Credit Union, who is a sponsor of this scholarship.

 


 

South Carolina Consortium for Gifted Education: The Melba McKenzie and LeAnn Crosby Summer Camp Scholarships

 

The Melba McKenzie and LeAnn Crosby Summer Scholarships were established by the South Carolina Consortium for Gifted Education as a tribute to the spirit and perseverance of former educators who devoted their career to working with gifted and talented academic and artistic students in our state.

 

The scholarship is provided for one or more low SES gifted students at the middle school level (current grades 6-8). The amount of the scholarship, not to exceed $750.00, is designed to cover or partially cover tuition to attend a summer program for academically or artistically gifted students. This scholarship could be used towards Carolina Master Scholars Adventure Series program at University of South Carolina.

 

To apply for the South Carolina Consortium for Gifted Education: The Melba McKenzie and LeAnn Crosby Summer Camp Scholarships, the student must complete an application, an interest survey, and submit a letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor or principal explaining why the student deserves the scholarship. See your guidance counselor or gifted teacher at your school for an application for this scholarship. If you are interested in using this scholarship towards participating in a Carolina Master Scholars Adventure Series summer course, please complete an application for the Carolina Master Scholars Adventure Series and submit it with the completed application for the Melba McKenzie and LeAnn Crosby Summer Camp Scholarship. This application will be returned to the contact information listed on the Melba McKenzie and LeAnn Crosby Summer Camp Scholarship.

To apply for a scholarship, submit a paper application only,

 

  • Completed Application with a copy of your most recent report card/transcript
  • $200 non-refundable deposit fee (Scholarship will be deducted from total fees)
  • Your family’s (Guardian) 2013 Federal Income Tax Return (1040) or a proof. If you do not file a 2013 Federal Income Tax Return (1040), please submit a proof of income

*If you have already applied and been accepted in to a Carolina Master Scholars Adventure Series course for summer 2014, you may still apply for a partial scholarship. Please return the completed acceptance forms that were sent to you with a copy of your 2013 Federal Income Tax Return. Any scholarships will be deducted from your balance due.

 

Upon notification of the scholarship award, the remaining balance is due by May 23, 2014. If payment is not received by May 23, 2014 the scholarship and program slot may be offered to another student.
