Noncredit Certificate Programs: Modules for Continued Learning and Development
Noncredit certificate programs document participation in extensive noncredit instruction and professional development activities.
Typically, certificate programs are comprised of several related modules that are completed over a length of time.
These programs are developed and recognized by many employers as evidence of:
- an individual’s effort to continue his/her education
- an individual’s interest in gaining additional skills/knowledge
- compliance with re-licensure requirements.

Generally, each component module in a Noncredit Certificate Program is eligible for CEUs as determined by the program applicant and approved by the Academic Enrichment and Conferences (AE&C) Noncredit Programs staff. Each module identifies the goals, needs, and target audience of the program and is evaluated to determine learning outcomes.
While AE&C does not offer certificate programs, our office is pleased to offer approval and registration services for certificate programs. Our registration services include:
- Maintaining detailed course rosters for each course
- Providing permanent records for each course participant
- Issuing certificates to participants at the conclusion of the program
- Providing transcript letters that document the participant’s professional development experience.
Individuals who successfully participate in a USC-approved Noncredit Certificate Program may contact our office at any time to verify their record of activity, to request replacement certificates, or to request a transcript letter.
