Introduction to Studio Portrait Lighting and Posing for Beginners
This introduction to studio portrait lighting for beginners will cover various studio lighting techniques starting with just one light and progressing to advanced 3 and 4 light set-ups. The class will focus on the basic rules of lighting and posing including how to create various portrait lighting styles, how to choose and use light modifiers to get the look you want, and the use of studio flash (strobe) lighting as well as continous (hot) lights. The techniques learned in this class can be used for acheiving professional results whether shooting in the studio or on location.

John Wrightenberry - Instructor
John Wrightenberry is an award winning professional photgrapher with over 100 awards recognizing his photographic talent. Graduating from the University of South Carolina in 1987 with a degree in Media Arts, John began his professional photography career shooting freelance assignments and managing Columbia Photo Supply's color, B&W and E6 photo labs. He has taught numerous portrait and lighting classes at professional photography workshops.
Through the years, John studied with some of photography's greatest nationally known talents. His photography experiences and education allows him to create portraits and document weddings that combine traditional methods mixed with fashion and photojournalism. John's work has been published in Professional Photographers of America's Loan Collection, The New York Times, The State, Columbia Metropolitan Magazine, numerous wedding publications, and he is currently the cover story photographer of Columbia Home and Garden Magazine. John was also one of five photographers chosen to document "A Day in the Life of USC" year after year.
John has served as President and Chairman of the Board of The Professional Photographers of South Carolina. He currently serves as one of three appointed South Carolina Counselors for Professional Photographers of America and as School Director of South Carolina's Lamaar Williamson School of Professional Photography.
