Creating WOW Curb Appeal with Landscape Design
Learn the basics of Landscape Design and how they can be applied to make your home more welcoming and to increase the value of your most valuable asset. Learn to SEE what ‘is’, decide what needs to be changed, visualize the ‘to be’, and proceed with a plan that will yield the results of your dreams. We will explore inexpensive ‘quick fixes’ and more in-depth overhauls…..you decide what you want to tackle and how to best utilize your energy and landscaping budget. We will study ‘before and after’ examples to help you begin to see possibilities. You can choose to plan your own landscaping project between classes with the opportunity for a professional to upgrade your ideas. The offering will include 4 meetings.

Please bring pencil and paper for taking notes and an 8 x 10” color photograph of the front of your house. Once enrolled, you also may e-mail the same photo prior to class to ruchellegee@aol.com for personalized advice as class time permits (please label “USC – Your name” in the subject line).
Also useful: graph or quadrille-ruled pad of paper (4 squares = 1 inch or similar), pencil, 12-15 inch ruler and large eraser. It is helpful to have an Engineering triangular ruler and a template of various sized circles or a Landscape Template (available at Hobby or Office Supply Shops) and a small box of colored pencils.
About the Instructor - Ruchelle Gee
Ruchelle is a professional landscape designer with a stunning portfolio of designs and happy garden owners. Her work ranges from creative container gardens to simple curb appeal makeovers to total site evaluation, design and installation. Ruchelle holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration–Management from the University of South Carolina and retired from the Camden DuPont site as a Senior Executive Staff Member after a 30-year successful and satisfying career. She was able to pursue her love of gardening full time, launching her successful design business in response to the demand from those who knew her work. Formal training includes: Landscape Construction, Advanced Landscape Design, Residential Landscaping, Advanced Drafix Professional Design, Irrigation, Advanced Floral Design, Master Wildlifer, and Master Gardener.
She credits MANY people (to include studying with P. Allen Smith, Tracy DiSabato-Aust, Margot Rochester, and other nationally respected experts) and institutions with the development of her landscaping and gardening knowledge. But most of her success is a result of years of experience, extensive research, a sincere interest in her clients, and travel to horticultural centers around the globe, to include numerous studies at the England Chelsea Flower Show.
She is associated with Wingard’s Nursery and Garden Center in Lexington, S.C. for their clients desiring design services. As a Master Gardener she served as a Kershaw County V.P. and instructed the Design module of the Clemson Master Gardener Program. She has been published in South Carolina Midlands Master Gardener “And Sow Forth” and “The Camden Chronicle-Independent’. She has worked with realtors in showcasing new construction before ground was broken to achieve pre-construction sales utilizing advanced digitalized landscaping technology. She also consults with the South Carolina Department of Transportation through Resource Development Associates.
She enjoys sharing her love of gardening and design with students.
