The Extended Campus (EC) encompasses all USC-Columbia programming (both undergraduate and graduate) offered away from the Columbia campus, regardless of delivery mechanism. EC is currently offering undergraduate and graduate courses as well as complete graduate degree programs at many locations around the state. In addition to these in-state programs, our programs are in demand around the world.
The functions of the Extend Campus are multifaceted:
- Market programming/courses available through the EC (undergraduate and graduate), including all UIS courses
- Approve and monitor all courses offered by USC Columbia at any off-campus location
- Approve all graduate courses offered by any USC campus authorized to offer graduate level courses away from their home campuses
- Develop and monitor all undergraduate and graduate reduced rate tuition courses (regardless of host campus), including those offered in conjunction with the S.C. Department of Education and other state agencies, to ensure that reduced rate courses are in compliance with USC and CHE policy
- Work with UIS to deliver the University's courses and programs using distance delivery capabilities
- Assist academic units in the approval processes for contracts with other academic institutions/agencies, including approvals by the Office of International Programs for Students, General Counsel, and Board of Trustees
- Facilitate the development of programming out-of-state and out-of-country, including the development and approval of contracts with international agencies
- Work with the various campuses of the University System and local agencies to determine programming needs and facilitate the delivery of courses to meet that need
- Assist units students and the units delivering courses offered through the EC with the admissions and registration process
